2016 College Football Playoff National Championship Cements Arizona’s Status as a Top National Sports Destination

Posted 9/24/2015

The 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship will be played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., on January 11, 2016 with a number of community events taking place statewide in the days prior to the championship matchup.

“Arizona is a world-class sports destination thanks in part to the emphasis many of the state’s business, sports and tourism leaders have placed on growing its reputation in recent years,” said Brad Wright, co-chair of the AOC and principal of Wright Companies. “We have state-of-the-art facilities and the infrastructure in place to support these events but more importantly, we have a community that invests in, and truly embraces events like next year’s national championship.”

The state is known for its hospitality and world-class resorts, spas and golf courses. A thriving culinary scene, exciting nightlife experiences and recreational activities, combined with year-round warm temperatures and sunny skies, makes Arizona a favorite destination among fans, the media and businesses alike.
